BEING A ROCK

For a long time, I wished I could be a rock, an inanimate object, so that I would not have to think. After all, thinking can bring suffering, indecision, frustration, and confusion. But why deny this innate characteristic of being human?

Instead of trying, or wishing, not to think, when we cannot avoid it anyway, why not embrace it completely? Why not truly reflect, and at least try to reach our own conclusions?

Denying this part of ourselves can only lead to even more frustration and suffering. But what if we tried to embrace this characteristic instead? What if we allowed ourselves to reflect, to think, and to accept who we are, carrying not only the negative feelings that may arise from this process, but also the positive ones that can emerge from accepting our true nature?

Because if thinking is part of who we are, then perhaps it is not a problem to escape from, but a tool through which we can better understand ourselves.
